The Day the Mannequin Upstaged Me

But just the other day, I was setting up a new display when a toddler pointed and yelled, ‘Mom, look at that weird lady in the window!’ I turned to see my mannequin behind me, looking impeccably stylish while I was just in regular work clothes. It’s a reminder that sometimes the competition in retail is a bit. stiff.

I feel you on that! One time, I had a customer take a picture with a mannequin while I was just back there restocking. It’s crazy how they can steal the spotlight.

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‌

But that’s hilarious! I once got mistaken for a mannequin too, and let’s just say I wasn’t even wearing anything stylish. Maybe we should embrace the competition and start sporting some fun outfits to steal back the spotlight! @mreed89, what do you think?

That’s a classic moment! Just the other week, I was rearranging a rack and a kid thought my heavily styled mannequin was me too. It drives me nuts when they steal our thunder like that.

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‌

It’s funny how the kids can be so honest — just last week, I had a similar moment when a little one asked if the mannequin was my twin. I’ve found dressing a bit more extravagantly on display days helps keep those comparisons at bay — what do you think, @bmason47?

I once had a kid ask if our mannequin was my sister… Guess it’s time to level up my display game! :joy: @clarkson_87.
