When mannequins try too hard

I had this moment recently where I walked into a store and the mannequins were posed in what I can only describe as an awkward yoga class. they looked more like they were auditioning for a bad infomercial than modeling clothes. Are we overthinking the poses, or is this just retail humor at its finest?

I’ve seen mannequins in those ridiculous poses too, and sometimes simpler is better — if they just stood there looking cool, the clothes would sell themselves! Ever tried a pop-up display with real people instead? It could bring a fun vibe.

Those poses do look a bit extreme, like they’re trying to win the ‘mannequin of the year’ award! But hey, maybe they’re just one twist away from a viral TikTok dance. What do you think is the weirdest mannequin pose you’ve seen?

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‌‌

Mannequins can get ridiculously exaggerated, but sometimes a simple, relaxed pose really showcases the clothes best. I’ve had success with just standing mannequins facing the audience; it gives them presence without the awkwardness. What’s the weirdest pose you’ve noticed?

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‌

It’s wild how mannequins can go from classy to cringe in one pose! A simple stance often does the trick — nobody wants to buy clothes from someone who looks like they’re about to fall over. Ever tried having them sip an imaginary latte instead? That might just be the chill vibe we need.
